Enhancing the Dismissal Experience: New and Improved Features in the Student Dismissal App
At Student Dismissal App, we’re dedicated to continuously improving how schools manage their dismissal processes. Our latest updates, along with some key recent improvements, bring greater efficiency, more control, and an overall smoother experience for teachers, staff, and administrators. These changes were designed based on feedback from our users, and we’re excited to share how they streamline the app and make it even more user-friendly.
Easier User Management and Control
Managing users has never been easier. We’ve removed the public registration link, which used to allow users to sign up without being associated with a school. Now, all new users—whether they’re staff, teachers, admins, or students—must be added directly through the User tab. This prevents users from signing up incorrectly and ensures that only those linked to your school can access the system. You’re in full control of who is added to the app, which simplifies user management and helps avoid confusion.
Personalized School Name Display
For a more personalized experience, your school’s name will now appear in the upper left corner of the app, just under the app name. This small change adds a touch of personalization to your interface and helps create a clearer identity for each school using the app.
Sorting Made Simple in the User Tab
Need to sort users by name? You can now sort by either first or last name in the User tab for quicker access to the information you need. And if you want to reset the list to its original state, simply click the “Clear Filters” button.
Password Management Right in the App
We’ve added a highly requested feature—users can now change their passwords directly in the app! No more needing to use the “reset password” link if you already know your current password. Just navigate to the profile section in the side menu, scroll down, and change your password. After updating, you’ll be logged out and will need to log back in with your new password, making it secure and easy to manage.
Improved Password Reset Notifications
For those who do need to reset their passwords, we’ve made the process clearer. Now, reset emails include a reminder that the link is valid for only 6 hours, so you can reset your password with confidence and avoid expired links.
Classroom Order Stability
In response to teacher feedback, classrooms in the Classroom view will now remain in the same order each time you visit the page. This consistency helps teachers quickly find their classrooms without the need to re-sort or search, saving time during busy dismissal periods.
12-Hour Login Sessions for Better Session Control
To ensure your app session is live and active during important times, such as dismissal, we’ve updated the login session to expire after 12 hours. If you’ve been logged in for more than 12 hours, the app will prompt you to log back in, keeping your session fresh and secure.
Better Error Handling and User Creation Tracking
Creating users is now more efficient, thanks to improved error notifications. If there’s an issue when adding a user, you’ll receive a clearer message that helps you quickly identify the problem and resolve it. This improvement makes it easier to track down errors, keeping your workflow running smoothly.
Bug Fix on Self-Dismissal Screen
We’ve fixed an issue that caused strange characters to appear on the self-dismissal screen in certain cases. This bug fix ensures a cleaner, more reliable experience when students are managing their own dismissal.
Faster Search When Adding Students
When manually adding students to classrooms, you’ll now find the process faster and more intuitive. After each student is added, the search box automatically resets, allowing you to jump straight into searching for the next student without having to clear the previous entry.
